COURSE INFORMATION
Red Hat High Availability Clustering (RH436) Overview:
Red Hat High Availability Clustering (RH436) course strongly emphasizes lab-based activities. You’ll learn how to deploy and manage shared storage and server clusters that provide highly available network services to a mission-critical enterprise environment.
This course also helps you prepare for the Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in High Availability Clustering exam (EX436).
Who Should Attend:
- Senior Linux system administrators responsible for clustering services and using fault-tolerant shared storage technologies
- RHCEs interested in earning Red Hat Certificates of Expertise, as well as Red Hat Certified Datacenter Specialists (RHCDSs) and Red Hat Certified Architects (RHCAs)
Red Hat High Availability Clustering (RH436) Certifications:
This course is part of the following Certifications:
- Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in High Availability Clustering
- Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
Red Hat High Availability Clustering (RH436) Prerequisites:
Before attending this course, you must have the following:
- RHCE certification is required to take the exam (EX436) or to enroll in a version of this course that includes the exam (RH437).
- If you want to take this course without the exam (RH436) and have not earned your RHCE certification, you can confirm whether you have the correct skill-set knowledge by passing the online skills assessment.
During this course, you will learn to:
- Install and configure a Pacemaker-based high availability cluster
- Create and manage highly available services
- Troubleshoot common cluster issues
- Work with shared storage (iSCSI) and configure multipathing
- Configure GFS2 file systems
Red Hat High Availability Clustering (RH436) Outline:
Module 1 – Clusters and storage
Get an overview of storage and cluster technologies.
Module 2 – Create high-availability clusters
Review and create the architecture of Pacemaker-based high-availability clusters.
Module 3 – Nodes and quorum
Review cluster node membership and how quorum is used to control clusters.
Module 4 – Fencing
Understand Fencing and fencing configuration.
Module 5 – Resources and resource groups
Create and configure simple resource groups to provide high-availability services to clients.
Module 6 – Troubleshoot high-availability clusters
Identify and troubleshoot cluster problems.
Module 7 – Complex resource groups
Control complex resource groups by using constraints.
Module 8 – Two-node cluster issues
Understand the use and limitations of 2-node clusters
Module 9 – ISCSI initiators
Manage iSCSI initiators for access to shared storage.
Module 10 – Multipath Storage
Configure redundant storage access.
Module 11 – LVM management
Review LVM commands and Clustered LVM (clvm).
Module 12 – Global File System 2
Understand the GFS2 file system and use tools to create, maintain, and troubleshoot it.
Module 13 – Eliminate single points of failure
Eliminate single points of failure to increase service availability.
Module 14 – Comprehensive review
Set up high-availability services and storage.
